Huron Playschool Co-operative offers two separate programs. Each program has a maximum of 15 children supervised by one ECE professional teacher assisted by two cooperating parents or caregivers. The school observes the same winter, spring and summer breaks as the Toronto public schools.

  • Morning program: Monday through Friday (5 days) 9:00 to 11:45am.
  • Part-time (3 days/week) afternoon program: 1:15-4:00pm

Early drop-off (8:45 am) is available for morning program children for a small additional monthly fee.

A typical Session

Sessions follow a loose routine that enables children to familiarize themselves with school life. A session includes the following.

  • Free play and a organized craft activity
  • Circle time which includes music singing and conversation.
  • Snack time where children sit together with staff and enjoy a healthy snack.
  • Free play and bathroom time.
  • Outdoor play in Washington Park (weather permitting) or a story and free play.

During their time at Playschool the children are encouraged to care for each other and their environment, play cooperatively and communicate their needs and interests and develop independence.

Field Trips

The daily program is program enriched by regular visits and excursions. This includes a weekly creative music/movement class taught by an early childhood music specialist, and one off visits from science educators, animal handlers and others. Regular field trips include visits to community organizations, museums, galleries and parks.
